What is an inter-franchise order:
Inter-franchise orders are orders sent from one Edible® store to another for the purposes of order fulfillment to maintain a superior customer experience and to be able to say “YES we can” to customers looking to have an item delivered outside of a store’s delivery area. It is used when a customer contacts your store by phone or walk-in to place an order outside of your delivery area. The order must be sent through the POS system, SMS, as an inter-franchise order if another Edible store services that area.
Sending and Fulfilling:
The store taking the order is considered the “sending” store as this store will send an “outgoing order” via the Edible.com on-line system in SMS. The order will then be received as an “incoming order” by the “fulfilling” store.
When to Inter-franchise an order:
You cannot send orders within your delivery area to another store as an outgoing inter-franchise order as a matter of convenience or for any other reasons. You are required to fulfill all orders in your delivery area. Only orders going outside your area may be sent as inter-franchise orders.
Refunds:
If a guest requests a refund, the sending store must complete this action. Only the sending store can affect the guest's money. The fulfilling store must also update the SMS order to reflect any refunds/adjustments done by the sending store.
Commission and taxes:
The store that takes the order and sends the outgoing order (sending store) will provide the customer service on the transaction as the point of purchase store. That store will collect full payment for the order, and also collect taxes based on local tax rates. The order will then be sent electronically via the inter-franchise system to the receiving store for fulfillment. The fulfilling store does not pay taxes on that order as funds were already collected by the sending store. There is a commission kept by the sending store, while the bulk of the funds from the order are sent to the fulfilling store as payment for the product and delivery. Edible maintains an online clearinghouse for inter-franchise orders and currently once per week there is a pull or push to your account for the net proceeds of your inter-franchise activity.
