Setting Sales Goals
As a business owner or manager, it’s important to set goals, communicate them with your team, and then follow-up to track their progress. Sales are one of the most important metrics we have to focus on, so the Sales Goal tool in SMS was created to help track these goals and your progress towards them. With the sales goal setting in SMS, you will set what weekly sales goal you’d like to accomplish, and the system will display this for employees to view, along with the progress towards hitting this goal on a daily and weekly basis.
We suggest that the initial sales goal set for all stores is their Break-Even point. A great initial goal is to regularly achieve this breakeven amount. Once you have regularly achieved break even, increased sales goals should be set from there, rising in increments of 10-20%. For stores beyond BEP with more than one year of history, reviewing last year’s sales and adding 5-20% depending on your store’s growth rate is usually a reasonable target goal.
