Your bank will have specific procedures and forms for you to follow when making deposits. There are usually different forms and procedures for depositing credit card sales drafts, and it is important to keep documentation of such transactions.
Edible suggests you make bank deposits daily or at least three times per week (if daily cash sales volume is low), using these procedures:
- Balance the cash drawer, leaving a set amount as a cash bank ($100 is suggested; but amount is up to Franchise Owner’s discretion).
- Separate currency, coins, checks, and credit card slips.
- Prepare a bank deposit slip.
- Put the deposit into a bag (tampered resistant sequentially numbered bags and Deposit Bag Control Logs are suggested).
- Sealed deposits should be stored in a locked safe or drawer until transported to the bank.
